Assessment

Candidates present a portfolio of coursework, which shows that they have achieved all of the Specific Learning Outcomes. This portfolio must contain the following: Gardening Diary and Other Evidence

Gardening Diary:

Candidates will present a diary of gardening tasks, which they carried out during the course of the module. This should record: key dates in their gardening tasks, e.g. dates of sowing, transplanting, thinning, etc. observation of important changes, e.g. appearance of shoots, leaves, flowers and the dates on which these were noticed action which may be needed, e.g. feeding, mowing, etc.

Diaries should include a selection from the following:

  • Written work
  • Visual work
  • Text supported by illustration
  • Videotapes or photograph


Written work should normally be accompanied by drawings or photographs of the main stages in the horticultural tasks carried out.

Other Evidence:

candidates submit evidence that they have achieved all of the Specific Learning Outcomes. A summary of the type of work, which may be presented as evidence is given in the Appendix, Description of Portfolio.
