Nutrition is the science that deals with all the various factors of which food is composed and the way in which proper nourishment is attained.
The average nutritional requirements of groups of people are fixed and depend on such measurable characteristics such as age, sex, height, weight, degree of activity and rate of growth. This programme is designed to provide the learner with knowledge of the composition of food and an understanding of how food affects an individual’s personal wellbeing.

Aims

Participants of this course will successfully achieve the following outcomes:

  • Be familiar with the nutritional needs of different groups of people.

Progression Route

Major award FETAC Level 5.

Assessment

Participants who wish to achieve a FETAC Component Certificate must complete two assignments (50%) and an exam (50%).

Duration

This programme will run for 5 contact days and will require participants to complete some work in their own time.
