Assessment

Participants who wish to achieve a FETAC Component Certificate must complete one assignment (20%), an Exam (20%) and a Skills Demonstration (60%).

Aims
  • Show an understanding of the role of customer service in organisational effectiveness.
  • Be aware of the role and responsibilities of a representative of an organisation and work effectively as part of a team.
  • Acquire a range of verbal and non-verbal skills in order to meet customer needs, handle customer complaints and deliver good customer care.
  • Be familiar with consumer protection legislation.
  • Appreciate the rights of all customers regardless of gender, marital status, family status, sexual orientation, religion, age, disability, race or culture.

Entry Requirements
Level 4 or equivalent and or prior learning experience.
Participants may wish to apply for exemption from parts of this programme based on prior learning experience, valid and reliable evidence will need to be provided.

This programme will run for 5 contact days and will require participants to complete some work in their own time.

Aims

Participants of this course will successfully achieve the following outcomes::

  • Participants will understand key terms used in communications theory such as sender, receiver, message, code, channel, communicate, noise, feedback, context, with particular reference to working life.
  • Learners will gain an insight to the kinds of listening required in different contexts e.g. understanding, interpreting, and receiving information.
  • Participants will show their ability to demonstrate a range of listening behaviours appropriate to the a context given, such as eye contact, facial expression, and encouragement, control of own responses.
